NEWS FLASH - Last Chance to Receive Free Solar Eclipse Glasses is Monday, August 21st at SEEC
Everyone is looking forward to the solar eclipse on Monday, August 21, 2017. Remember all of Colorado will be experiencing a partial solar ecilpse and it is important that your eyes are protected with approved solar eclipse glasses when viewing the partial eclipse. Red Feather Lakes Community Library is one of two libraries in Colorado that received a NASA@MyLibrary grant. Part of the grant includes a number of solar eclipse glasses to protect viewers' eyes. The Sun's visible and invisible (UV) rays can cause serious damage to the sensitive tissues of the eye. Normally our common sense protects us from looking directly at the Sun for more than a second. But during an eclipse, astronomical enthusiasm can overwhelm common sense, and people can wind up staring at the SUN for too long. Anytime a piece of the bright SUN shows, your eyes are in danger - that includes the whole time you are viewing a partial eclipse. Red Feather Lakes Community Library and SEEC have already handed out over 800 free solar eclipse glasses. The last chance to receive a free pair of NASA approved solar eclipse glasses is Monday, August 21st, at 9:30 am at Soaring Eagle Ecology Center (SEEC). The RFLC Library is no longer handing out the solar eclipse glasses. Also remember the following dates: Saturday, August 19th, from 12 noon to 2 pm - join us at the library for an awesome SOLAR PARTY. On Monday, August 21st, it's the partial solar eclipse at Soaring Eagle Ecology Center (SEEC) - meet at SEEC at 9:30 am for activities and viewing the partial eclipse of the Sun.
